Become a Trustee or Secretary for Peer Action
/in Peer Action /by Terry ClarkePeer Action Trustees and Secretary Positions
Peer Action is a Brighton and Hove based charity with the sole aim of making a difference to the lives of people living with HIV and those who care for them. We offer support for everyone affected by HIV and offer regular yoga and therapy days together with popular swimming and social activities, exclusive visits to museum exhibitions and some beautiful historic houses and gardens. We focus on our charity work and we are working hard to stop others feeling isolated or out of touch.
We are looking to appoint trustees to join our enthusiastic board. Joining us you will be a team player and demonstrate a real commitment, integrity and responsibility in a professional way to the charity. Appropriate conduct is an essential requirement.
As a Trustee you will be responsible as part of the board for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity’s goals, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the regulatory guidelines.
We are also looking to appoint a secretary for the charity. This is also a trustee position with a specific role on the board as secretary, and it would suit a person with very good organisational skills.
The role of a trustee is a voluntary position. It’s a rewarding role and you will be able to bring one or more of the following elements to the charity.
- Strong in administration and social media skills
- Skills in fundraising
- Skills in communications and marketing
Above all we are looking for people with the credibility and passion to make a difference for everyone affected by HIV within the community. Although we operate within a very strong local community, we invite applications from Sussex and the surrounding areas.
For an informal chat before applying or to apply please contact our Chair, Ms Adriana Silva chair@peeraction.net
Applications by email in the form of a letter, thank you.
Closing date: 28th January 2019
We welcome applications from all ages and parts of the community. The positions are subject to a DBS disclosure.

NEW! The Rainbow Hub in St James’s Street
/in Header Post, Peer Action, TEST /by Terry ClarkeThere’s an exciting new space that is opening soon in St James’s Street Brighton. The Rainbow Hub is a local point of contact for LGBT+ people seeking up to date help, information or guidance, in a safe, non judgemental environment.
Peer Action is very pleased to be working with the volunteers from The Hub and supporting the community with our Well-being therapy days and weekly Yoga days.
In recognition of National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2018 Peer Action attended The Rainbow Hub’s Candlelit Reception and Vigil on Wednesday 17th October at St James Street, Brighton,
There were light refreshments and the vigil took place outside the Hub at 7pm.
It was a great turnout and the community made a very loud 2 minutes ‘noise’ to shout about the awareness week!
Many thanks to Alan Flack, manager and Billie Lewis, Chair of the LGBT community safety forum.
